Monmouth Hills…. A
unique historic community of 42 homes
Monmouth Hills was
developed in the late 1800’s/early 1900’s primarily as a summer
resort for wealthy Manhattan residents who wanted a place by the
Shore. Then, as now, there was water
transportation in the form of a steam boat that brought the
families with their belongings and horse and buggies over from
Manhattan.
We are a unique
location as well, being located at the highest point above sea
level on the entire eastern coast line from Maine to Florida.
We sometimes have our own “micro climate” because of
this. Our proximity to the ocean typically
causes a nice breeze in the summer months, rarely creating the
need for air conditioning.
Our community is very family oriented and
hosts a number of special events at our historically registered
club house including an annual Easter Egg Hunt, 4th
of July Picnic, Halloween Hayride and Holiday Party with a
special visit from Santa Clause. In
addition to these events, we have several “adult” get togethers
throughout the year where we each bring an horsdoeuvre and meet
at the clubhouse for a casual evening of good company and good
fun.
Included is a write up about our wonderful
clubhouse so you will begin to understand how lucky we are to
have this asset. In addition to the
clubhouse, we have terrific HarTru tennis courts for the private
use of our homeowners.
Other important information to include
about living on “the Hill” is that our annual dues go in part
toward out trash pickup and sewer bill. There
is no separate charge for these expenses. The
balance goes towards the maintenance of the common areas
including the roads. By the way, the dirt
roads are a great surface in the winter as compared to pavement.
It’s a very rare occasion that you are not able to get
off the Hill during bad weather. We have an
excellent plowing service and the dirt gives us the traction we
need. If all this fails, you can always walk
down the Hill to the bus stop or ferry which is about a 10
minute walk.
Monmouth Hills is a very special place to
live because of its wonderful sense of community and history and
any one moving here will quickly learn to love everything that
makes living in Monmouth Hills so unique.
